This refurbished "casa padronale" (the main house where the landlord lived) is located 4 kilometres from Cortona in Tuscany, and within easy drive of Pienza, Gubbio and Assisi in Umbria.  Arezzo and Perugia are about 35 minutes away, Siena and Florence 1 hour, Rome and Pisa about 2 hours. The house is perched on a sloping hillside, 500 meters from the small town of Pergo (the nearest shopping, coffee bar, etc.). Cortona where cultural and gastronomic events abound is a very international town after Francese Mayes put it on the map.

Description: 
The house measures approx. 200 square meters (2,150 sq ft), on 3 levels and consist of:

FURNISHINGS:
The home is furnished with antiques and colourful soft furnishings, terra cotta tiled floors and exposed beam ceilings. Some internal stone walls. The house is surrounded by a well-tended garden planted with lavender, rosemary, geraniums, and there are cypress, cedar, olive and fruit trees (plum, apricot, cherry, fig, pear and apple). Special crannies in the outer, upper walls of the house provide nesting holes for local Rondini (swallows).

AMENITIES:
Satellite TV, internet connection, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, toaster, large refrigerator with freezer, American coffee maker, Italian coffee pot, barbecue, pool, mosquito nets on windows. Linens (including pool towels) and kitchenware are supplied. Baby bed and highchair upon request.  Parking on the property. Pets allowed (EUR 50 per week per pet.)

A short driveway leads up to the house and covered parking area from the nearby country highway. This main road leads to the town of Camucia and to Cortona, a few kms away for more extensive shopping with large supermarkets etc. There is a pizzeria within walking distance.

Positive aspects: 
Light, views, pool, garden, outdoor verandas for dining and relaxing, proximity to a mini-supermarket, nearby tennis courts, riding school, location for touring into Umbria and Tuscany.

Negative aspects: 
Stairs, some noise from the road, guest bathroom has the washing machine in it.

Our personal opinion: 
“A very comfortable and beautifully furnished home, with wonderful views."

Included: 
SHORT TERM RENTAL: Electricity, water, cooking gas, bed linen and towels with weekly change, pool towels, internet, pool and garden maintenance, use of pool from May 1 to September  30.

Not included: 
SHORT TERM RENTAL: Final cleaning  (150,00 Euro fixed price), Euro 50 charge per week for pet, city tax, heating, extra maid service.  Heating Euro 30 per day.
